Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy

The Academic Science Journal (ASJ) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes that digital archiving is essential for protecting the scholarly record and ensuring that published articles remain accessible to researchers, institutions, and readers over time.

ASJ takes reasonable measures to preserve its published articles, metadata, and related journal content through secure digital storage, institutional support, and recognized indexing, archiving, and repository platforms where available.

Archiving Objectives

The digital archiving and preservation policy of ASJ aims to:

  • Ensure long-term access to published articles.
  • Protect the integrity and availability of the scholarly record.
  • Preserve article metadata, abstracts, references, and full texts.
  • Maintain access to published content in case of technical failure, website migration, or platform changes.
  • Support discoverability through indexing, abstracting, and academic databases.
  • Provide stable and reliable access to journal content for readers and researchers.

Preservation of Published Content

ASJ preserves the final published versions of articles, including full-text files, metadata, abstracts, keywords, references, issue information, and DOI information where applicable.

Published articles are maintained on the journal’s official website and may also be archived or made discoverable through institutional, national, and international platforms, indexing services, repositories, and library systems.

Institutional and Platform Support

ASJ is published by the College of Science, University of Diyala, Iraq. The journal benefits from institutional support for maintaining its website, editorial records, published issues, and digital journal content.

The journal may use academic platforms, indexing databases, national repositories, and digital library services to support the preservation and discoverability of its published content.

Persistent Identification

Where applicable, ASJ assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to published articles. DOIs help ensure persistent identification, reliable citation, and long-term discoverability of published research.

The journal also maintains article-level metadata to support indexing, citation tracking, and digital preservation.

Backup and Website Continuity

ASJ aims to maintain backup copies of published content and journal records to reduce the risk of data loss. In the event of website maintenance, technical failure, system migration, or platform changes, the journal will take appropriate measures to restore access to published content as soon as possible.

Archiving in External Platforms

ASJ may preserve or make its content discoverable through recognized academic and archival platforms, including indexing databases, institutional repositories, national academic journal platforms, and library archives.

The journal’s current indexing, abstracting, and archiving platforms are listed on the journal’s Indexing and Abstracting page and may be updated periodically.

Author Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal academic websites, or other non-commercial scholarly platforms, provided that proper citation is given to the original publication in ASJ and that the article is shared in accordance with the journal’s open-access license.

Preservation of the Scholarly Record

ASJ does not remove published articles from its website except in exceptional legal, ethical, or safety-related circumstances. If corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions are required, the journal will preserve the scholarly record through transparent notices linked to the original article.

Policy Review

This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect changes in digital preservation practices, journal infrastructure, indexing services, and scholarly publishing standards.
