Role of Reviewers

Role of Reviewers

The Academic Science Journal (ASJ) welcomes qualified researchers and academic experts to contribute to the journal as peer reviewers. Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scientific quality, integrity, credibility, and academic standards of the journal.

ASJ follows a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, timely, and confidential evaluations that help the editorial board make fair and informed publication decisions.

Role and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts according to their scientific merit and relevance to the journal’s scope. Their responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the originality, significance, and contribution of the manuscript.
  • Evaluating the appropriateness of the methodology, analysis, results, and conclusions.
  • Checking the clarity, organization, and scientific presentation of the manuscript.
  • Identifying major and minor issues that should be addressed by the authors.
  • Providing constructive comments that help improve the quality of the manuscript.
  • Alerting the editor to any suspected ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, inappropriate citations, or undeclared conflicts of interest.
  • Supporting editorial decisions through clear and professional recommendations.

The final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection remains the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned editor.

Reviewer Qualifications

Researchers may be considered as reviewers for ASJ when they meet appropriate academic and professional criteria, including:

  • Holding a PhD or an equivalent advanced academic qualification in a relevant field.
  • Having expertise in one or more areas of pure or applied sciences.
  • Having a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with research methodology, academic writing, and publication ethics.
  • Showing commitment to confidentiality, objectivity, and review deadlines.

Reviewer selection is made by the editorial board according to the manuscript topic, reviewer expertise, availability, and absence of conflicts of interest.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must follow the journal’s publication ethics standards. They are expected to:

  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Review manuscripts fairly, objectively, and without personal bias.
  • Declare any actual or potential conflict of interest before accepting a review assignment.

  • Avoid using unpublished data, ideas, or materials from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional benefit.
  • Provide respectful and constructive comments without personal criticism of the authors.
  • Inform the editor of any suspected ethical or scientific misconduct.

Reviewers must not share, copy, distribute, or discuss the manuscript with others without permission from the editor.
